THE SPANISH ARE RISING, AND SOME WANT TO IMITATE; THAT'S HOW ATTRACTIVE PASSIONATE HUMANS ARE3/9/2021 Hola, let me reintroduce myself. The little girl who served your food, took your orders, and your negative vibes accidentally has been rising above your hateful antics; a lifelong struggle just because of her heritage. Used to coming back from the dead, there is not much that scares or even surprises me anymore. I am Bertha Yadira Iñiguez Yañez. I'm an All-American multicultural human of hard-working immigrant parents who also deserve a better quality of life and retirement; a break in painful generational curses on both sides.
My uncle’s name is Hilario and he’s a mestizo immigrant who’s worked hard to stay in this country. Both of my parents’ families are mestizo Americans struggling to understand one another because of the systemic lies that the United States, and the world, have created and touted as truths for centuries, feeding into hate. Sadly, some are blind to the harm they cause just because of their pride. Respectfully, no, Hilaria Baldwin is not Spanish no matter what she calls herself or what she and Alec name their children. Her marriage to Alec Baldwin has allowed her to get away with disguising herself for years and it's unacceptable because she knew what she was doing. I choose to believe she's more intelligent than her actions. I have faith in both of their hearts and wish them healing. My story is one of many; sadly, not all of them are heard. Most whitewashed Americans, Latinos and Hispanics included, have been brainwashed into thinking that love is hate. Yes, you read that right; love has been disguised as hate through misogynistic man-made religions that too many people take literally, including many women. That’s how deep men have gone to try and destroy our light; men created electroshock therapies to erase our minds and souls. Overtime, they have and many women are suffering because of it today; how did anyone ever see that as love? It wasn’t, and still isn’t. Little do these men know that we have both female and male sides (just don’t tell my homophobic uncles that!); you have tried to erase empathy from our world but we won’t let you do that anymore. We all have the chance to redeem ourselves every day, and I have faith that many of us know that now. Many like to say they love a challenge. How about this one: let's rewrite the story of this world with love only. No more war. Give Peace a Real Chance. Or sit down, shut up, listen, and learn. Respectfully, An exhausted "Golden Child" of immigrants.

There’s only so much humans can do in order to come to terms with the sudden loss of such a kind soul who was fighting so much darkness inside of him. Six years after a terrible tragedy that shook the world, the ingredients to Robin Williams’ inner tragic storm are still something many are trying to understand. A master of disguise, and a legendary genius, he was able to hide his inner turmoil up until his death.
On August 13th, 2014, three days after his passing, Williams’ widow Susan Schneider said that he had been battling early stages of Parkinson’s disease before his death. Later that year in November, the autopsy and coroner report indicated the presence of ‘diffuse Lewy body dementia’ in his brain; some clarity into the ‘perfect storm’ that went on that night. At the beginning of August this year, an Instagram profile was started announcing the September 1st iTunes release of “Robin’s Wish”. It features videos of several people from his life introducing the emotional documentary about Robin Williams’ final days. Rick Overton, who also saw a comic hero in Jonathan Winters, perfectly introduces the legend of Williams and the story of a tragedy of a soul gone too soon. “If you really study the detailed work -- the intricate psychological stuff he was doing -- you could see that this is a multifaceted artist here. A lot of people like to say ‘oh, he’s a funny man, Robin Williams’, but he was many great things. This man was really great things,” Overton states. He points out that we have to put as much focus on the beauty as on the tragedy of Williams. “They say ‘comedy is tragedy plus time’ but so is remedy, because the same buttons were hit, but for another set of reasons. In time we can laugh about things that we cried about. We found the remedy, and so hopefully we find the cures down the road because we care that much to do it. And now we know to care,” Overton concludes. A call for people to care more is needed in a time like this. The state of the world right now has shown us that love, empathy and understanding is desperately needed, as it was back when we lost an incredible human to suicide. In order to heal, humans must attempt to understand each other better in order to grow out of the darkness. “Make love, not war” as John and Yoko said. Robin Williams’ wish was to help people have less fear, because he knew very well how terrible it can feel, right until the very end. He’s inspired many young comedians, including Fahim Anwar who said Williams showed us that “stand-up could unlock your wildest dreams.” He made the unattainable seem attainable for all. We will never know if more love could have saved Robin, but his tragic death doesn’t mean his message of love (especially in the midst of fear) is gone; it lives within each and every soul he touched, and we must continue to spread that love he left in our hearts forever.“He wanted to help people feel less afraid, while battling inner turmoil. He was a freakin’ warrior,” Schneider. As the Captain wishes, it must be. To learn more about the documentary, visit https://www.robinswishfilm.com/ and @robinswishfilm on Instagram. ~Bertha Y. Iñiguez (I will be editing this further as the Documentary is released. I wrote a piece while in college, when we lost Robin. That is also being edited, as I have had more experiences in mental health since then. Stay tuned! Thanks.) Back in 2011 is when I really started my road in Journalism. I had already caught the photography bug long before, and was searching for a way to make it a career. While at Iowa State, I was a photojournalist for the Iowa State Daily. I continued that road when I got to Drake University, too, honing my skills as a staff writer and photographer with the Times-Delphic. While I was at Drake, I had the unique opportunity to intern with a couple of Poetry/Art-based organizations, including San Francisco-based online journal, The Rumpus. Though my time with them was brief, as the internship lasted the last half of a semester, I learned a lot and discovered a lot of non-mainstream artists.
I went onto become a radio host and assistant arts producer at Siouxland's KWIT-KOJI: Siouxland Public Media years later, with a goal to help artists (mainly, local and non-mainstream) get the attention they deserve. I created, produced, hosted, and managed social media for "The Triple Good Music Show", and artists loved hearing their music on the airwaves. I will always be a person who seeks truth, justice, and support for those who would otherwise be ignored and remain in the shadows of life. Just because they're a little too "different" or "out there". Read this: real change does not come from sticking to the past.. it happens when someone has the courage to reach farther than most are willing to, for the greater good of humankind and the planet. And that's been my mission since I began this road. I continue this journey as an observer, learner, thinker, and writer. https://www.linkedin.com/in/bertha-iniguez/ Let's all take our
broken hearts and make them into ART Like Carrie Fisher did soy, dairy, gluten/wheat, and nut free! The following ravioli recipe makes dough for 10-14 raviolis: With this simple recipe, you can make your own gluten free, vegan ravioli dough and stuff it with whatever you like: cheese or no cheese; meat or no meat … you get the idea. The point is, it’s up to you! Pasta: 1 1/2 cups of Gluten Free all purpose flour (I used King Arthur's All Purpose Baking Mix) 1 tbs extra virgin oo, coconut oil, or other. 1/2 cup very warm water salt for water truffle oil Sweet Potato-Red Pepper Filling: 1 medium-large red bell pepper 1 medium-large sweet potato Himalayan salt Paprika Chipotle powder onion powder choice of cilantro or basil (or, both!) optional: if you really love onion, add an onion! I usually do my spices to taste. SOUL food! Have fun with it! Ryan's Bean Paste: 1 cup of cooked Black Beans onion powder - to taste Tabasco - to taste Apple Cider Vinegar (Bragg's) - to taste tiny bit of lemon pepper if you have it (but optional) salt to taste cilantro or basil your choice of vegan cheeze Let's get cooking! To mix the dough, you could use a fork or just your hands to mix up the dough. Once the dough is made, make it into a ball, wrap it up and set it in the fridge for 30 minutes- an hour, while you prepare the filling and bean paste! Cut up your sweet potato and red pepper into cubes. Optional: cut up an onion, too. Mix up your oil, salt and spices, then pour onto your diced vegetables, while they sit on a baking pan lined with foil. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. Once they're ready, set aside and let cool for a couple of minutes. Use a masher and mash everything together. Set your filling aside. Add your choice of oil (enough to cover the bottom) into a pan. Carefully pour your cooked black beans (watch out for oil splatter! wear a long sleeve if possible) onto heated up oil. Let the beans absorb the oil for about 5 minutes, stirring at times so that they don't stick to the pan. Add a tiny bit of water, Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, and your spices. Let simmer for about 5 minutes for the flavor to come in. Turn off the heat, and set aside. After your filling and bean paste are done, and the dough has sat in the fridge, Roll the dough out almost like you would a pie crust and cut to whatever size or shape you like, as long as there’s a pair so you can put them together to make the ravioli. Large biscuit cutters or just a knife works to cut lasagne-size strips which then can be cut in to squares or rectangles — honestly, it doesn’t matter! When you're ready, put a dollop of filling in the middle of one square/rectangle/circle of dough, wet the edges with a finger and place another similarly-sized piece of dough on top, press together and seal well by pressing a fork into the edges and you’re in business. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop raviolis into your pot of boiling water, cooking for about 3 minutes, until they float to the top. Let sit to dry off for about 5 minutes. To plate your ravioli: Place a dollop of Ryan's Bean Paste on the bottom of your plate. Top bean paste with a ravioli. Using your choice of Vegan Cheeze, top your ravioli with it. Top your cheeze with a cilantro or basil leaf. If you have truffle oil, add a dash to your raviolis and enjoy! Voila! Bon appetit! Lady Birdie How we treat a person
during the darkest moments of their lives is a benchmark of humanity Viola Davis, "How to get away with murder" (on NBC/HULU) https://twitter.com/ladybirdie007/status/1246408999932776449 This is the healing revolution I asked the universe for Literally Two Years Ago Mother Earth has been hurting It's our job to help heal her again To heal what's been done to women for way too long Sadly, death is necessary for progress the end of one chapter an opportunity for another new discovery that you would not otherwise have if you had kept going down a tired road in need of change I saw A forest, full of humans young and old who have come together to do what's right Where do we go from here? We don't focus on the past we learn from it and move forward with better plans more love and understanding less fakeness less flakeyness less fear less negativitiy less pointing fingers more dancing more music more laughter more courage more thanks yous are you ready to do what the universe needs? can't wait to fade to black at the end of it Her name is Sam And she's a sham didn't give a damn about her friends As long as she was fulfilled Damn, Sam Heart Slam I was there for you She was there for you You stabbed us in the back When you turned my love against me with your lies and deceit When you used her for your self exploration only to toss her aside when you'd had your fill I'm forgiving, but not forgetful and I don't lose track Fraudulent friends use you When they need you Thrown away like a used condom Worthless to them after one use A therapy goer for many years I wouldn't take Sam as a therapist Unless you want to learn the art of lying and deceit in order to win and remain squeaky clean in the world's eyes At all costs She won't help heal you because she doesn't know how to heal herself without hurting others to fulfill her selfish need to win over the happiness of another Saying "how dare you fall for a man I don't want, but selfishly need in my life because I hate that you have him" Shameful, Sam I didn't stand a chance When Sam was my lover's ex Writing flirty messages to my then lover, which I saw because I see everything She continued to play puppet master in our relationship While being with someone else herself What kind of person does that? A Shameless Sam Ruiner of three important relationships With a single swing of her twisted tongue Yes, I include her because, unlike her, I actually saw her as a friend once upon a time Yes, he could have been a better man, admit to what they were doing That it was selfish, unfair, and cowardly. He probably never will, darlings. But one can hope. The Jolene Dolly sings about is not your friend she's made that clear She will take your man just because she can A coward knows not what courage feels like Remaining a coward until they admit their wrong doings She probably never will admit to doing wrong, either Sam the Sham. Life moves on still Don't let your "Sam" rid you of your overflowing courage Keep letting it shine through your life More than ever before You're no coward like Sam the Sham |
